St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Savannah, Missouri was established in 1855 and experienced both high and low spells of attendance. At its peak, St. Mary’s hosted several generations of church members but by 1960 most of the families had moved away or had passed on.

For several years St. Mary’s stood quietly on the corner of Fourth and Chestnut streets and was lovingly preserved by Savannah families.

In 1990, St. Mary’s experienced a rebirth, one by one new worshippers migrated to the historic church and re-opened for Sunday services. In December of that year, The Diocese of Western Missouri granted St. Mary’s full mission status and has remained active ever since.

In 2003, St. Mary’s took on the mission of providing a new Head Start building to ensure a safe-learning environment for pre-school children in Savannah, MO.

St. Mary’s welcomes all those seeking a relationship with God in a peaceful setting and looks forward to many more years of continued stewardship.
